UPDATED: We really need some volunteers for this event next week. Would love parents to get involved in the walking audits that begin afterschool. Please comment here if you are inserted and Mrs. Kowalski will reach out to you. We Need You! Colon Community Schools has recently partnered with Michigan State University's College of Engineering, the DDA, Colon Village, and other local municipalities and governmental agencies to embark on a journey to ensure all of our students have Safe Routes To School! E-Mail Rachel Kowalski at rkowalski@colonschools.org if you are a parent or student who wants to take part in this very important project. The purpose of Safe Routes to School is to: * enable and encourage children in grades K-12, including those with disabilities, to walk and bicycle to school * make bicycling and walking a more appealing and safe choice of transportation * facilitate the planning, development, and implementation of activities that improve safety and reduce traffic, fuel consumption, and pollution near schools

Our elementary and secondary students are doing a lot of work with Xello this year! We have added a session at our Magi Parent Academy to provide families with an overview of this valuable resource. At CES our students in upper elementary will work with Xello during our College & Career Week, in late October. AD Sterling's College & Career Readiness students at CHS are using Xello to plan solid plans for the future. Also, in our Magi Focus, specific days are set aside for our high school students to experience the powerful planning tools that Xello offers. For more on Xello, check out this overview for families: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKQ56vWLvVA

Here are our Dress Up Days for both elementary and junior/senior high school students for Homecoming 2023! We are excited to see all of our students participate. Additional guidance has been provided for Wed/Thursday at CHS. WED: "Dress Like Your Type" - you dress like who your dream date would be. THURS: "Rhyme Without A Reason" ... you dress as two things that rhyme but aren't related at all. For example, a ballerina and John Cena. If students cannot think of a good rhyme, they can just dress as a duo. If you have questions about the Dress Up Days, please contact Elementary, Amanda PeGan (ampegan@colonschools.org) & Jr/Sr High, Ann Vinson (avinson@colonschools.org)
