Welcome Sonia Kevnick to Colon Community Schools!
From Sonia: "I am so excited to be joining Colon Community Schools, I strive to make a positive impact anywhere I go while uplifting youth voices to help them truly discover their passions. After work, I enjoy exploring new trails and finding time to spend out on the water."
Community and parent input is everything, and that's why we are adjusting our community events to meet your scheduling needs. Superintendent Rachel Kowalski welcomes the community to "Supper With The Superintendent" on February 15th at Colon High School. Please mark your calendars so you can be an important part of providing feedback for future district planning!
Here are two dates to remember for January 2023!
Good morning Colon Community Schools families. Today we will be having a scheduled lockdown drill at Colon Elementary and Colon High School. There is no need for concern, as this is a planned drill required by state law. Again, there is no concern or threat, we are only having a planned lockdown drill this morning. GO MAGI! If you have any questions, please contact the Superintendent's Office at 269-386-2239.
Monday, January 9 is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Colon Community Schools wants to thank the Colon Police Department for everything that they do to support our students, families and community!
Greetings Colon Community Schools families. We hope you had an enjoyable and restful winter break. We are so excited to welcome our students back on Monday. It is going to be a great January in our district!
Junior and Senior High School students are reminded to check their schedule in PowerSchool using their Chromebook OR an internet browser on a smartphone. Some students are experiencing difficulties using the PowerSchool app, so again please use an internet browser to check your schedule so that you know where to go on Monday morning. If you have questions about accessing your schedule you should reach out to Mrs. Kowalski or Mrs. Wielenga via email OR arrive to school early for a printed schedule.
Colon Jr/Sr High School Students - please check your PowerSchool for your Semester 2 schedule. If you cannot see your schedule OR want a printed schedule, Mrs. Ackerman can give you one in the front office on January 9th. Please plan to arrive early though to pick up your printed schedule if you need one, but your PowerSchool menu will have the correct schedule.
If you have a schedule change request, you can use the Google Form: http://tinyurl.com/MagiScheduleChange
E-Mail Mrs. Wielenga or Mrs. Kowalski if you have any questions.
Best wishes to Coach Hattan! You will always be a Magi!
Colon Community Schools will be closed tomorrow, FRIDAY, December 23, 2022 for staff and students. Today students have a 1/2 Day and will dismiss on the 1/2 Day Schedule. There are no changes to the schedule for Thursday, December 22, 2022.
We hope you all have a wonderful holiday break and will see you on Monday, January 9th!
Good Afternoon Colon High School families. Today the administration team monitored potential winter weather impacts for the weather headed our way on Thursday and Friday. Using local meteorological reports, we reached out to the teachers at Colon High School regarding our exam schedule. At this time, we have decided to move up some exams in case of school closure. Making up exams AFTER Winter Break is something we are trying to avoid. Please note that at this time we are still scheduled to be in school on Friday, and we are moving up exams to be forward-thinking to prevent makeups from occurring after break. Thursday remains a 1/2 day of school, as does Friday.
Today at 2:30 we notified students over our public announcement system that we would be having 2nd period exams tomorrow and moving up other exams. We will post the schedule shortly. The administration offered the opportunity for students to share individual concerns if they feel unprepared. Additionally, teachers will be providing extra exam support (such as having notecards) in each classroom, and this varies by teacher.
If you have any questions, please call the high school at 269-432-3231

We would like to thank the Board of Education for approving the resurfacing of our track (Including pole vault, high jump and long jump areas) using Sinking Fund dollars last night at the Board of Education meeting.
Maintenance Director Chris Greenwald says "This is a great investment for our kids and community. The track surface has been deteriorating for awhile and becoming a safety concern. Our track is used year round by our community members and our track teams"
With the addition of the track being resurfaced, the Sinking Fund passed in 2019 have allowed Colon Schools to add air conditioning in each classroom in the Elementary and High School, restructure and resurface the Elementary parking lot, resurface the High School parking lot and upgrade the lighting in both the Elementary and High School.
Please read an update from Mrs. Pegan regarding the One Chip Challenge.
Thank You
Magi Nation!
