3-28-17 versus Athens

The Magi softball team split with Athens last night in two closely contested games. The Magi won the 1st game 1-0 while falling to Athens 4-2 in the 2nd. Katelyn Walls led the way with her bat in her first varsity game with 4 hits, Keagan Bower had 2 hits and several others added a hit apiece. Defensively, Madison Miller did the bulk of the pitching throwing 10 2/3 innings with 20 strike outs and 4 walks. Maddy Fisher threw 2 1/3 innings adding 2 strike outs and 0 walks. It was a great effort by our pitchers.

3-29-17 versus Centreville

The varsity softball team completed against Centreville Wednesday night. The Magi Softball Team lost to Centreville 16-4. Leading the way with 2 hits were Maddy Fisher and Keagan Bower. Roosa Mynttinen got a nice hit in her first ever at bat playing softball, nice job Roosa. Maddy Fisher and Madison Miller combined for 6 strikeouts of the Bulldogs. The softball team is off until April 11th when we play Marcellus at home.

4-11-17 versus Marcellus

The Magi Ladies Softball Team won two tough fought games last night. In the first game we won 3-2, after taking the lead early they fell behind and came back to win. Madison Miller threw for 10 strikeouts and adding 2 hits herself. Megan Warn led the way with 3 hits, Gretta Minor had a hit, a couple walks and added 2 stolen bases, Keagan Bower, Brooke Hinkley and Sydney Tomlinson all added hits in the victory.

In the 2nd game Maddy Fisher started the game and threw very well with Madison Miller coming in at the end for a change of pace. The girls once again took an early lead, lost the lead and fought back with a vengeance as they took the lead in the 5th and closed it out with runners on and darkness called because we weren’t going to get another inning in and we already had the lead. Keagan Bower led the way with 3 hits, Megan Warn and Madison Miller each added 2 hits and Sydney Tomlinson also had 1. Great job ladies, Good Luck tonight at Union City!

4-12-17 versus Union City

Last night the Magi Varsity Softball Team played very well against a strong Union City team. The first game we had the lead throughout the game and then they got a couple well timed hits in the last inning and pulled out the win beating us 4-3. Leading the way for the Magi were Keagan Bower with 2 hits and Madison Miller with a HOMERUN and throwing for 4 strikeouts. Several players had a hit a piece.

In the 2nd game Colon defeated Union City 7-4. Defense was shining and the bats are starting to come alive. Leading the way in the second game was Gretta Minor with 2 hits, a walk and 2 stolen bases. Keagan Bower had 2 hits and a stolen base and again we had several players adding 1 hit each. Pitching duties fell on both girls with Maddy Fisher getting the start and throwing 3 strikeouts and Madison Miller getting 4 strikeouts in relief.

4-15-17 @ Mendon Tournament

The Magi Softball Team played in the Mendon Tournament on Saturday and took 2nd place.
In the 1st game we played Galesburg with Madison Miller throwing an 11 strikeout 10-0 shutout. Maddy Fisher led the way with 3 hits, Sydney Tomlinson had 2 hits and several girls contributed with 1 hit.

In the 2nd game Maddy Fisher threw a 7-0 shutout with 5 strikeouts against Berrien Springs. Hits in the game were from Madison Miller, Katelyn Walls, Brooke Hinkley, Sydney Tomlinson and Maddy Fisher.

In the Championship game we held a 1-0 lead until the 4th inning when we gave up 4 runs. The Magi were mounting a comeback in the 7th but came up short 4-2. Madison Miller threw well with 11 strikeouts. Gretta Minor had a hit and a run scored, Megan Warn, Sydney Tomlinson and Maddy Fisher all added hits in the game. In the end the Magi played extremely well only giving up 4 runs all day.

4-18-17 versus North Adams

The Colon Varsity Softball Team lost two close games to North Adams last night. The first game was 4-2 with Gretta Minor, Megan Warn, Sydney Tomlinson and Maddy Fisher all contributing hits. Madison Miller threw for 11 strikeouts in the game.

5-3-17 versus White Pigeon-1st Game of County Tournament

The Magi softball team beat White Pigeon 11-1 last night in their 1st round matchup in the St. Joseph County Softball Tournament.
We scored 2 in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd, 5 in the 3rd and 3 more in the 6th. Gretta Minor had 3 hits, Megan Warn had a double, triple and 4 RBI’s while Katelyn Walls, Paige Koller and Sydney Tomlinson each had 2 base hits. Madison Miller added a base hit with an RBI, Maddie Fisher had a base hit and 2 RBI’s. Madison Miller picked up the win while striking out 12 batters.

In the second game the Magi, we lost 1-0. Hits came from Katelyn Walls and Sydney Tomlinson. Madison Miller threw for 6 more strikeouts.

5-6-17 @ Burr Oak Tournament

The Magi Softball Team took 1st place at the Burr Oak Tournament last weekend!
The Magi outscored their opponents 25-3.
Leading the way in the 1st game were Megan Warn and Paige Koller with 3 hits each, Megan had 2 singles and a double and Paige added 4 runs scored. Maddy Fisher had 2 hits, 3 runs scored and got the pitching victory! Jillian Kinstle added 3 runs and Gretta Minor scored twice, as the Magi beat Burr Oak 21-2.

In the championship game the Magi broke out new jerseys and avenged their loss last year to Cassopolis beating them 4-1.
Gretta Minor led the way with 2 hits and a run scored. Keagan Bower had 1 hit and 1 run, while Paige Koller and Desirae Martin each scored a run. Madison Miller picked up the win and 13 more strikeouts.

5-9-17 @ Tekonsha

In game one the Magi Softball Team got off to a slow start but pulled out a 3-2 victory. Leading the way were Keagan Bower, Madison Miller, and Katelyn Walls each with 2 hits. Madison Miller had 7 k’s from the circle.

In the 2nd game we gained a little life and won 11-1, Madison Miller got the victory again with 7 more K’s. Leading the Magi in hits were, Gretta Minor with 4 hits, Megan Warn 3, and Keagan Bower, Katelyn Walls and Desirae Martin all added 2 hits each.

The Colon softball team scored 56 runs on Friday night. It took place over the course of just five innings as the Lady Magi drilled Litchfield 33-1 and 23-0.

Colon scored 25 runs in the first inning of the opening contest and added eight in the second. Collectively they had just 11 hits in the game and 17 walks.

Gretta Minor had three hits and four RBI, Maddie Fisher singled and tripled with four RBI while Sydney Tomlinson added a single, double and four RBI. Megan Warn had a triple with two RBI, Brooke Hinkley drove in four and had one base hit, Desirae Martin drove in two with one base hit.

Paige Smith had a single and two RBI, Paige Koller was credited with an RBI.

Fisher threw three innings, striking out four.

Colon won the second game 23-0 by scoring eight in the first, seven in the second and eight more in the third.

Miller had two singles and three RBI, Katelyn Walls added a single, double and two RBI while Keagan Bower had a single with three RBI. Hinkley collected two hits with one RBI, Warn, Jillian Kinstle and Roosa Mynttinen each had a single with two RBI. Martin was credited with an RBI.

Miller threw a perfect three innings, striking out eight.

5-15-17 versus Pittsford

Monday night the Magi Softball team played Pittsford. In the first game Gretta Minor led the way with 2 hits and Madison Miller had 11 strikeouts as the Magi held on to win 3-1.
In the second game the Magi came out swinging, blanking Pittsford 17-0. Leading the way with 2 hits and 2 runs scored were Brooke Hinkley and Gretta Minor, Keagan Bower and Jillian Kinstle each scored 3 times. Madison Miller threw a 5 strikeout NO-HITTER!

5-16-17 versus Bellevue

Tuesday night the Magi Softball team played Bellevue and defeated them both games 10-0 and 12-2.
In the first game Madison Miller, Keagan Bower and Maddy Fisher all had 2 hits while Desirae Martin scored 3 times. Madison Miller again had 5 K’s.
Finishing the night of strong in the 2nd game, Gretta Minor had 4 hits, Sydney Tomlinson had 3 and Keagan Bower, Madison Miller, Katelyn Walls and Maddy Fisher all had 2 hits each. Madison picked up another win while throwing 8 more strikeouts.

5-19-17 versus Camden-Frontier

The Lady Magi continued their winning ways on Friday night against Camden Frontier with a sweep (both games in 3 innings), winning the 1st game 20-0 and the 2nd game 19-3.

In the 1st game Brooke Hinkley led the way with 2 hits and 3 runs scored, Paige Koller had 2 hits and several girls had 1 hit in the game. Maddy Fisher and Sydney Tomlinson also both scored 3 runs each and several girls scored 1 or 2 times each. Madison Miller was in the circle for another no-hitter throwing 8 strikeouts.

In the 2nd game Megan Warn and Katelyn Walls each had 2 hits while just about everybody else contributed with a hit. Madison Miller and Keagan Bower each scored 3 times and again several girls scored either once or twice. Maddy Fisher threw this game getting the victory.

5-22-17 home with Waldron

Congratulations Magi Softball, another sweep of conference foes! The Magi secured the SCAA West Conference Championship last night while taking down Waldron 5-0 and 9-0.

In the first game Madison Miller carried the load striking out 13 of 21 batters and getting hit support from several ladies; Gretta Minor, Keagan Bower, Megan Warn, Brooke Hinkley and Paige Koller had hits for the Magi.

In the nightcap the Magi were led by Gretta Minor and Keagan Bower with 2 hits each, Megan Warn, Madison Miller, Maddy Fisher and Sydney Tomlinson also contributed hits. Madison Miller threw for 6 strikeouts before Maddy Fisher came on in relief as our 4 senior captains (Gretta Minor, Megan Warn, Madison Miller and Paige Koller) took their final regular season curtain call and cheered their teammates on at the end of the game.
